Strong set of street images Stella and, as someone whose insta feed also has a mix of collage and street work (@ftwentytwo), I would love to see more of your street work. Would be interesting to further explore the links between 'street' work and collage - certainly, as you say, both benefit from time to 'marinate' and view with fresh eyes prior to posting (or deleting!). I ask the same question of my street work as my collage - looks nice but does it actually say anything new beyond a random selection of people on the street / a random set of collaged images, aesthetically pleasing perhaps but each lacking in a decisive moment. A collage 'of' nice images, a photograph 'of' people on the street neither of which says anything new 'about' those things.

It's wonderful to meet you, Richard! I'm glad to know someone who does both street photography and collage art. Thank you for your perspective. I think meaning in these two endeavors can be found or created through the process itself. A sense of wonder and curiosity is valuable. It feeds our souls. And, that is enough. Simply dismissing something because they are "nice images" blunts that experience. Create and/or capture what feels right for you and meaning will follow!

Stella, I love these! I kept coming back to the staircase one... and realised on my third look at it that it ISN'T a staircase, but a mural OF one - goodness me, you caught the people at exactly the right moment to convince me that they were about to climb it. Awesome!

I love them all, but aside from the staircase one my other two favourites are the boy in the bubble and orange balloon meets orange-dressed lady. I don't write fiction but gosh, these are super writing prompts... you might have even tempted me to dip a toe into THAT water...! 👀

Thank you, Rebecca! Isn't that lovely when something surprises us? The timing was perfect. I didn't realize that these photographs can also be writing prompts. Thank you for sharing this perspective. I hope it'll make you dip into that water of fiction.

Nice series Stella. These are quite striking. My fav is the stairs for the angle and colors. Then i read Rebeccas comment about it being a mural and i had to return to see. Love it even more. And one point you made about returning to edit with fresh eyes is so true. I learned way back that editing as soon as i picked up the film was not the best time to edit. Unless i had a deadline to meet, i would wait days before editing my personal road trip images. And like you mention, dont start deleting images until you are sure, absolutely sure! My reason was an image that is not strong on its own, might have ingredients that compliment a different composite. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Charlie! Yes on strong stand-alone images. I totally agree with you that it might work in combination with something else. Can't wait to curate and see what comes up from these gems. Stay tuned!
