These (and their stories) are lovely; thank you.

“The curtains and throw pillows in the living room were muted aqua blue. The cushions on our patio chairs had a floral pattern.”

Back in the 60s, to cover up the living room’s mottled chocolate-brown and white upholstery pattern that had worn thin, my mother used slipcovers and throw pillows and drapes in her favorite colors of purple and an aqua green.

Though hundreds and hundreds of miles from the nearest Florida room or lanai, one of my grandmothers and some of the great-aunts favored bold florals in their houses, similar to this -

As an old friend would often say (in non-fashion contexts), “What goes around, comes around”. The old is made new again!

Thank you for these beautiful words and pictures this morning, Stella, and for reminding me of our avocado bathroom suite in the bathroom of my childhood home! I still love that colour. 🙌 Your patio cushion is an almost identical pattern to my childhood kitchen curtains, but those were shades of orange, copper and chocolate. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to think about all of these things again. ♥️

You’re welcome, Rebecca! Thank you for sharing your story. Love that we discover these commonalities through nostalgia even when we have such different backgrounds. Here’s to avocado color! 🍻🥂
