Stella, this is beautifully written. I am always amazed when I see writing like this. I can picture the story. I read this post as soon as I got a notification and it lingered in my thoughts…

Thanks for reading, Shital! I’m quite insecure with my writing skills so your feedback means a lot. I appreciate it.

What a beautiful memory. It‘s funny how our brain works and what it remembers and what not. Thank you for sharing!

Somerville! Half my great-grandparents settled there in the 1870s or so - immigrants from Italy, Italy, Ireland, and Sweden - and two of their ten children - my paternal grandparents - were born and lived there all their lives. So many wonderful memories for me.

The subway/streetcar has recently extended from downtown through five new Somerville stops. A very nostalgic ride; also wonderfully useful!

No way, Daniel! That’s wonderful. Thank you for letting me know you have deep roots in Somerville. I haven’t been back since 2007. I can’t believe there are 5 new stations. If I have an opportunity, I’d love to visit and go down memory lane.

Bittersweet memories. Happiness from what is known, mingled with a degree of trepidation as you tried to learn all the new stuff. You all obviously had a sense of humour which would help tremendously. (Learning how to manage snow would be very intimidating!) And a lovely collage. Sending heaps of hugs dear Stella. 🤗🤗🤗
