I had to check - 800 hectares, 2000 acres!! That is quite some garden!! And as you’ve shown us, there are closely packed sections which would be overwhelming without the constant attention of an amazing team of gardeners. What an experience!! Thanks so much for sharing. 🤗🤗😘
Thank you, Beth. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. It is a HUGE garden! We definitely got a work out that day. The weather was cool so we were comfortable outdoors. It was well worth it!
How lovely to see Versailles from your perspective. I live about 15 minutes from the domain, and we go there relatively often to walk. The domain is huge, and I love the allées of trees that are in the back part. Le Nôtre designed a lot of gardens that are now public spaces. Long site lines are a hallmark. There's a sense of spaciousness in all of his gardens. They can be quite meditative. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and images with us, Stella. The next time you come to Paris, I hope we can get together. :)
I would love that, Anne! My brother's apartment is a short walk to Line 14 Point Cardinet so it's an easy train ride to Versailles. I'll definitely reach out when I'm back in Paris so we can get together.
Yes, it was, Ann! We love visiting gardens, urban or otherwise. We had quite a work out that day but it was well worth it. October brought cool weather too so we were comfortable outdoors. Ahh, would love to visit more gardens in the future.
Oh Stella, I love it. More than 35 years ago I was living for 3 years in Paris and of course I have seen many times Versailles. How beautiful and special it is. Also very overwhelming , I think. I like it a lot, that you did only b/w that is very special to me. Now in my age this time I would prefer more nature nature, if you know what I mean. But the barock gardening is so lovely and special. That is for sure. Thanks for that Sunday with you!
Thank you, Sabina! Definitely, overwhelming. I think Versailles requires multiple visits to truly enjoy the gardens especially the ones that are less visited. And there's different seasons too. I know it doesn't snow as often in Paris but how beautiful to photograph the gardens in this type of landscape? Oh, the possibilities. I can just dream for now.
Beautiful photographs. No need to worry about the originality of your images. Most of the visitors to Versailles, indoors and out, are just photographing the same things over and over. The photographer's eye and skills still matter, and still make a difference.
Very nice!! Great photographs.....
Thank you, Søren!
Wonderful work. These images brought me back to my visit in 2009—
it is time to visit again. 🖤📷
Thanks, Benjamin! I'm glad to hear that.

You brought back some good memories for me of Versailles, Stella. I love them all, actually!
Aww, that's good to hear Juliette. I'd go back and take some more pictures. There's so much more to discover!
I have visited Versailles before many years ago. It is quite spectacular!
And it was lovely to revisit the place through your perspective. Beautiful photographs!
Thanks, Manuela!
Lovely photographs Stella!
Thanks, Shital!

This is like a dreamscape, Stella . . . you & Tina must have never wanted it to end. Thank you for sharing this timeless place. xo
