For some reason I come back to the second collage. The giraffe looks like it is lost in the city and the man is telling her how to find her way back to nature. The giraffe looks at him and listens carefully.

The others are visually very appealing to though! Well done!

Wow, Stella! Of the initial pair of collages, I was first drawn to the giraffe in the cityscape. I found the cityscape, the posture between the giraffe and the man, to be very touching, like longing and hope for a connection. It was so wonderful to read about the way your process unfolded, step by step, and the final iteration is absolutely captivating. Then, to see the Guardians of the Giraffes, and see all those same feelings there, the tenderness, the hope, the connection, is so cool! I think it’s very well-described as “the longing of our collective hearts for unity, renewal, and peace.” And I like that the words fall a bit short - as they should - because the feeling has such depth and breadth. So, lacking the words, is maybe more a testament to a really impactful emotional response rather than a limited vocabulary :)

Beautiful. Love seeing the different versions, and reading about how you made these creative choices. It is very cold today where I am. This was such a nice warm read.

Thank you, Zachary! Welcome to Sundays with Stella. So wonderful to hear that. I appreciate it. We’ve had a break in the weather today and got some afternoon sun during our walk. It’s also been cold here in the Bay Area due to the storms up in the Sierra Nevada. Hopefully, warmer days are ahead where you live.

Such a gorgeous post, Stella - what a treat! I love giraffes - I couldn't believe how graceful they were when I saw them in the wild, because I'd always imagined them as ungainly. As such a tall girl I had always identified with giraffes, and I remember having been utterly thrilled to see how very beautifully they move.

I've really enjoyed reading your description of your art process - absolutely fascinating, and the end results, as always, are stunning.

Like others I really loved the second image, but I love where your mind went modifying it to reach the final emotive piece too. Giraffes are so delicate and regal and amazing. Perfect choices. And then that final video!! Extraordinary. You’ve carried us all far across the world and bridged gaps. Very much appreciated. Thank you dear Stella. Stay warm dear soul.

Thank you, Beth! It’s so interesting that like Susanne and Sydney, the giraffe in the city captured your attention. I’m actually glad to hear that. And yes, Ami’s video was heartwarming and uplifting! I also stumbled upon it when I visited her website. Synchronicity- I love it when it happens. Enjoy your week, Beth!

I love reading about your creative process and all the thoughts behind your decisions. The last image with the sphere, the man and the mountainous landscape is stunning. I also love the Sphere Studies image so, so much!! I assume you have more of those?

Thank you, Manuela! Yes, I do have more images from the Sphere Studies. The project has been in the back burner. At some point, it will resurrect again when it’s time. Sometimes, projects are that way, you know?
