Beautiful photo. Reminds me of Teju Cole and his wonderful book, Golden Apple of the Sun - https://mackbooks.co.uk/products/golden-apple-of-the-sun-br-teju-cole

Thank you for the link, Andrew. I appreciate the association! I love Teju Cole’s writings on photography too. He used to write at the New York Times magazine.

Brief, to the point and so relevant! I love that photo. I have had many moments like those. You're inspiring me to create a new series ... thank you Stella!

I'm also in the "messy middle" right now. Thanks for the very helpful advice and inspiration!

My pleasure, Sharon. Hugs to you as I know the messy middle isn’t the easiest place to be— but one things for sure, being here stretches us. Hang in there!

Anne Lamott has the right words for almost everything: "writing is like driving at night with the headlights on. You can only see a little way in front of you, but you can make the whole journey that way."

I relate to the way you feel about your art, but I do believe that we ought to simply keep going. And if we continue on, it will lead to something, maybe something unexpected, maybe something we are hoping for, but regardless of what it may be, it will lead us there.

That is what I am trying to tell myself. It is what someone once told me, and it is what I try to hold unto when everything I do feels a bit pointless. Keep going!

Thank you, Manuela! What I love about the people I’ve met here in Substack is the sustained art energy that keeps all of us moving no matter where we are in our creative journey. That includes you! Thank you for continuing to show up even when it’s hard. I’m always inspired by your work.
