There are moments in life, so monumental and still, that the memory can never be retrieved without a catch to the throat or an interruption to the beat of the heart.
Beautiful, Stella! I especially enjoy the frames where I can see a bit of the worn, wooden pew. In photojournalism school, I once had an assignment to photograph "people without people." It's difficult to do well, but these photographs evoke that for me.
Thank you for sharing this, Jennifer. I’m so glad to hear that. Photographing absence and presence simultaneously was indeed how I thought with the missals.
Thank you, Lyly. Absolutely. It’s a quiet presence but a powerful one.
Love this Stella…
So here is a quote:

Oh, I love it, Shital. Thank you so much. I know how that feels. I will write it in my journal this evening
Love that you did it in black and white! It really conveys what you were aiming to achieve!
Thank you, Zeralda! No question the images spoke in black and white for me.
These are so beautiful, Stella! As I visited each image in turn, my eyes actually teared up a bit, and I thought, “A life well-worn…”💕
Thank you. I’m glad the photos resonated with you, Sydney. I did feel the same way when I first encountered the missals.
